I had a terrible experience with this lawyer. Do not hire!
This guy is a straight up con artist and scammer, just hides behind the label “divorce attorney”. His only interest is $$$, and he will exploit the fact that you head is not on straight to get the most $$$ out of you. No one is thinking straught in the middle of a divorce. Do you really want an attorney whose goal it is to take advantage and milk that?
It took much longer than he promised. Mr. Cedeno seemed distracted all of the time. Not sure who wrote his reviews on Lawyers.com but they do not seem real at all.
Judging by these reviews and what I read hear I am not alone. That’s comforting. Hey, what can I add? Don’t hire him. Althought I cant promise you will find an honest divorce attorney (maybe that’s like a unicorn, i dunno)
I can tell you unequivocally that Peter Cedeno is not honest. He does not have your best interests at heart. He views you as an ATM. Not recommended.
i’m not the type to normally leave reviews because I am very busy and don’t have the time but I have to here. This man is just not what he claims to be, plain & simple. I had a simple case. FFS it was uncontested! Well, it didn’t end up uncontested and can I say that I blame this man for that fact.
He sowed the seeds of anger and basically lied to the other side, pretended, “forgot”, “misunderstood”. You know the drill, or you can guess, right??? At the end it was “that’s the way divorce goes” for his part + a HUGE bill. When I finally spoke with ex I discovered Mr. Cedeno’s lies. Lies lies lies! It’s unreal, this guy. So I disputed his bill. I’m telling you this guy’s goal is to cause problems so that you fight with your ex and he can charge more. Unbelievable! Don’t hire!
Badmouthed my ex as an “idiot” and told me the judge would decree that my ex was a “crazy unfit parent”. The opposite happened – plus he jacked me for fees. Thanks SO MUCH, Peter.
He’s slick and very well polished and I don’t mean it in a good way. All you need to do is a search under his name and look for stories in ny post and daily news. Do you want a lawyer with this type of judgement (or lack thereof) representing you during one of the most difficult times in your life? It’s tough enough finding a good lawer, this should make you pass and move on to the next one. Call the NYC Bar Legal Referral Service for help in finding a lawyer.
Let’s see if Mr. Cedeno has “no record or recollection of any customer experience fitting your description …” of the above incident with Ms. Pacelli. Has he mentioned this to anyone who has met him for consultation?
Stay away from him. He does not have your best interests at all. He just wants to milk you with fees by taking unnecessary legal actions at the moment when you are most vulnerable in order to pay for his legal costs (see above). Do you yourself a favor and do not disclose your liquid financial assets unless you decide to retain him and only after you get a sense of the legal costs and what type of motions he plans on filing. Don’t be lulled by the lower upfront retainer fee. That is where the lawyers get you. It’s at the backend where they get you. They tell you what you know want to hear and promise you the moon… which means often unnecesssary motions that are very profitable for them… ie 3500 to 5000 per court appearance for frivolous motions.
He does none of the actual legal work. He just has an associate toiling away.
